Wild-Boar are indigenous to Western Europe and North Africa. Numbers have increased in recent decades throughout continental Europe.
Capable of living almost anywhere wild-boar are highly adaptable and capable of tolerating a wide range of climates. Further more they may inhabit a wide variety of areas including grassy meadows, wooded forests, agricultural area, shrub lands and swampy areas. Naturally they require a water source although this can sometimes be some distance away. Generally they avoid extreme heat or freezing temperatures which prevent them from foraging for roots and foliage.
Wild Boar in the UK are opportunistic omnivores eating mostly plant matter including crops, seed, fruits, leaves and berries but also small mammals, eggs, ground nesting birds, reptiles and even insects and worms.
